Mikaela

Welcome to my 8th Birthday Celebration!

Hello Everyone. I am SOOOO EXCITED about my upcoming DISCO ROLLERSKATING PARTY!!! The RSVPs are in and there are 20+ people attending my celebratory events. To help smoothly facilitate my celebration, Mommy and I decided to disseminate and collect information via my website. If this is your first time visiting my website, welcome to Mika Expressions. Mommy came up with that domain name when I was a baby. She said my baby and toddler facial expressions were indescribable and thus could only be called, “Mika Expressions.” Okay. Enough about my expressions and onward to party details.

Columbia Skate Arena

This section highlights important information you need to know. PLEASE READ THIS SECTION THOROUGHLY. If you would like to take a look inside of the arena, scroll all the way to the bottom and click the play button on the video.

  • The skate event is 1 PM to 3 PM
  • Arrive at the arena at 12:45 PM so that you can pickup your skate rentals and maximize your skate time.
  • Suhavi is the skate arena manager and will be assisting us. She will have a list of the skaters and observers. The list will also include the names of those needing skate rentals.
  • Currently we have 15 skaters and 6 observers. 13 skaters need rentals and 2 skaters will be bringing their own skates. The list below demonstrates if you are a skater or observer, as well as those needing skate rentals. Please let me know ASAP if you need to change your status in any way.
  • When you check-in, let Suhavi or the attendant know that you are Team Mika. You will be given a red, white, and blue sweat headband with 2 matching wristbands. All participants, including the observers, are required to wear these sweatbands as part of our team.
  • In addition to the sweatbands, you will receive a ticket for skate rentals if you are designated as a renter on the list.
  • For those bringing their own skates, Suhavi will give you a red, white, and blue sweatband set and buzz you straight in.
  • There is a cafe with rink side tables and chairs for all patrons to use. This is a good spot for observers and skaters needing rest.
  • There are FREE lockers available to store your personal items. You will need to set the combination for your locker. Make sure you choose a combination that you can remember.
  • There are 10 kids in our group. Adults, skaters and observers, please look out for our children. They will be able to identify the adults in our group based on the red, white, and blue sweatbands we will all be wearing. Let’s say one of our kids need to exchange their roller-skates. An observer, or any adult on our team can assist with that.
  • If you want to be moved to the Observers List, please let me know before 12:00 PM, May 31, 2025.

Mika’s Birthday Wish

Please do not buy me any gifts for my birthday. Instead, consider making a small donation towards my Birthday Wish Fund. I have outgrown my kiddie bike. [Thanks for the kiddie bike, Godpapi. But, I’m a big girl now and it’s time to retire the kiddie bike.] My birthday wish is to replace my current bike with a new 10-speed bike. My goal is to raise $405.50 to purchase the Guardian 20 Inch Small Bike with accessories shown in the pictures below. If you would like to make a small donation towards my birthday wish fund, you can Zelle me at tmwells@nationalmdbilling.com OR PayPal your gift to tammy_wells_robinson@yahoo.com.

READY.  SET.  WIN!

Roller skating was a very popular recreational and social activity in the 1980s. It was a way to socialize, stay active, and express personal style, with roller rinks becoming popular hangout spots. Roller disco, a blend of skating and disco music, further fueled the craze.

Key Aspects of Roller Skating in the 1980s:

  • Social Activity: Roller rinks served as central locations for socializing and meeting friends.
  • Roller Disco: The blend of skating and disco music made it a fun and trendy activity.
  • Fashion: Bright colors, neon accessories, and sparkly outfits were popular fashion choices.
  • Music: The music of the 80s, particularly disco and new wave, was a key element of the experience.
  • Recreational Activity: Roller skating was enjoyed both indoors at rinks and outdoors in parks and on sidewalks.

Wear your best 80s costume / outfit, and you could win a trophy or medal. All attendees (skaters and observers) are encouraged to participate in this fun dress-up activity. The top 3 costumes / outfits will be announced and awarded at the restaurant.
